Knitting ADD

Did I just start a new project? Oh, oops I did it again. You know, though, I refuse to feel guilty about something that make me so happy. I will get back to the sweater, I will.

This weekend we bought new furniture for our family room, and thank god. I'm truthfully ashamed to put a photo of our current couch on my site. It is 10+ years old and while it does the job, it's very dowdy and really hasn't seen better days either. It's just ugly. Above is what we bought, and at a damn good price, too. So of course I need new pillows for all this new stuff, right?

From Erika Knight's "Comforts of Home: Simple Knitted Accents" and I'm using Annabel Fox's Mariner Cotton. The same thing as Rowan Denim and leaving the same blue marks on my hands and needles, too. A small price to pay, I'd say!

Central Park...for me

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a selfish knitter. Well, for the most part. I did just recently finish a sweater for my sister and I do some things for my kids, but for the most part my knitting time is scarce and precious and so I ususally knit things for the person who is most pleased with them...me. Anyway, I started the central Park Hoodie. I am late to the game, as the internet buzz around this sweater has died down somewhat, but here's the finished sweater, in a *ahem* green for which I don't really care. Plus that yarn is insanely expensive. (Who really pays $12 a skein?!) I'm using Cestari 2-ply in Blackberry. This is the first time I've used this yarn and it's lovely. Soft but still rugged for outerwear. I'll definitely use it again.

Knits Revisited

It's funny how our minds can play tricks on us. Well, Ok, mostly just hoping yours does this, too, because I seem to have stuff like this happen all the time to me.

I was knitting this sweater last year for N, who at the time was 3. He's a big kid, though, however when I was doing the raglan decreases, I remember thinking it was going to be gargantuan and way too tall. That I had knit too much body. Hm. Funny how things change when I dug it out this year, from the bottom of a bag, and now that he's 4, it's perfect.

The only problem is getting a photo of my 4-year-old with the finished sweater on. Will try to do that this week. I can't photograph him sitting still because he rarely does.

Smiley Baby Cardigan

As this is only my third entry, I'll stick with some things recently finished. This is a modified Easy Baby Cardigan (free!) made with Henry's Attic Kona Merino. This was my first experience with superwash, and while it wasn't entirely unpleasant, it wasn't very special either. It's nice to have washable garments for children, but I think next time I'll stick with cotton if I really want to be able to get away without hand-washing. This was also my first time knitting from the top-down! I *adore* this method of knitting garments and want one of these for myself. The sweater practically knit itself. Was really fun.

Mods include seed stitch collar and button band. I also should have made the arms longer--M is going to be tall like her parents. This will not fit her next year, unfortunately, even though the body will be long enough, the arms will be too short.

using the Fiber Trends Ear Cozies pattern. N has on handknit mittens, but
as he refuses to wear them much of the time, he has no handknit hat.

Can I change the name of my blog? That was a joke. Everything that I was punching in was taken, and now I want a take-back. I was kidding. Hello?

"Friender" is what my 3yo son calls "friends". He says his "friender Seeger" at school played cars with him today.
