Just. All. Wrong.

Independently, all of these things are good. But together, they just don't work.

Case #1

A. Rowan All Seasons Cotton
B. Desire to knit a child's top-down sweater with contrasting-c0lor raglan sleeves in the round

A+B=No. No. No.

The sad part is, this is my second attempt at this. I was sure I had figured it out this time. I could have continued this way, but I would have ended up with twice as many tangles and ends to weave in. Ugh.

Wrong. So Wrong.

Case #2

A. Thrifted, chunky buttons of unknown origin and unknown composition
B. New sweater, blocked and dry

A+B=No. No. No.

Lovely Buttons.

No. No. No.

The buttons, unfortunately, make it look on the 'granny' side of style. Also unfortunately, I have no other buttons in the house. And tomorrow is New Years.

Let's hope for better button mojo in the new year, shall we? I'm looking for either some dark purple or black buttons for this thing, and until then I will wear it without buttons. Buttons be damned.

Thank you for all of your kind comments and emails about our preschool 'situation'. It does help to hear from people who have been there, teachers and friends. Thankfully he's none the wiser about the whole situation and, I'm sure, will return to preschool in a week very cheerfully. I hope I can say the same for myself.

Bummer about the buttons! I love the sweater though!

As the mom of a 2.5 yo boy in speech therapy but who is "too bright" for his "test scores" to show he needs it, I feel your pain on the preschool thing. Not the same situation but some sympathy. Remember - you know him best!

As for Imogen, I'm finishing her tonight so if you need any specific measurements, let me know!

What a bummer, I hate it when things don't work out the way you'd like them too. Here's to a Happy New Year!

Oh my gosh, who'd have thought something as simple as contrast color raglan sleeves would make for such a mess! Yikes!

I love the buttons. How sad they don't work with the sweater!

I wish I had some wisdom on the preschool situation, but as a non-parent I'm afraid I can just offer silent support.

I like the buttons and I like the sweater; but, you are right, the too together do not work. And the contrasting sweater, ugh. Maybe you could just stripe it? Probably not what you are looking for, but it's something, right?

I love that you keep moving no matter what.

What about buttons covered in the same yarn? I don't know what that entails. But that way the attention is drawn to the gorgeous work on the sweater, and not to the buttons...

To me, it sounds like you have an amazing son. I hope the preschool thing works out. Happy New Year!

I think those buttons are pretty. But I think you're right that they don't work with the sweater.

I hope the preschool thing turns out okay.

Those look like horn buttons. They're quite nice, but not for that sweater, I agree.
